Mercedes Segade is an Argentinan photographer, filmmaker and visual artist who works on long-term and collaborative projects across multi platforms such as films, installations, books and digital media. Her work focuses on understand how the different ways of think, see, and perceive impact in our social behavior and interaction with the environment, utilizing art and collaborative projects as a tool to foster understand and redefine new realities. She was born in Tandil (Argentina) in 1985 and currently lives in Lisbon, Portugal. She studied Audiovisual Arts at the Universiad Nacional de Arte and Photojournalism at ARGRA, (Association of Graphic Reporters Buenos Aires, Argentina), and participated in workshops in film editing, narrative structure and theatre in London, Madrid and Buenos Aires. In the year 2011 she founded Zorzal, a creative studio specialising in documentary films and new narratives and developed the educational project Micromundos, offering photography workshops to more than 200 people in public libraries, art galleries and community centres. Segade`s work has been exhibited and published internationally in media and art galleries including Mutuo Centro de Arte (Barcelona, Spain), Flotante Mag (México), La Juan Gallery (Madrid, Spain), Mumbat Lab+, (Argentina). Her series Disparacuentos, created for the Red Nacional Audiovisual Universitaria (RENAU) Argentina, was nominated in 2018 for the fymTI – International Television Festival and Market awards.
